Portugese Windmill

HISTORY

The mill was built in 1886 and used as a windmill. In 2004, it was renovated to retain its authentic character.

LAYOUT

The mill accommodates 6 people. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 of which have en-suite bathrooms.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, freezer, and washing machine. There is also a separate bathroom with a toilet, a bath with shower, and a sink. There is a lounge area with satellite TV and a view of the garden. Wi-Fi is available throughout the mill.

Outside, there is a large terrace overlooking the valley. There is also a swimming pool (8.5 m by 3.5 m). A stone charcoal barbecue is also available in the garden.

  • Internet access is included in the price.
  • Bed, bath, and kitchen linens are provided free of charge during your stay. Beds are made upon arrival.
  • The mill is only rented from Saturday to Saturday.
  • You will be personally welcomed upon arrival, given the keys and provided with the necessary explanations. We are also available by phone throughout your stay.

The mill is located in Santa Catarina, in the municipality of Caldas da Rainha. This municipality is in the Leiria district, situated on the west coast of central Portugal.

From Belgium, Portugal is a 2.5-hour flight away. Lisbon Airport is approximately 80 kilometers away, which is about an hour’s drive.

The beautiful seaside resorts of São Martinho do Porto and Nazaré are a 20-minute drive away. Here you can enjoy all kinds of water sports such as surfing, sailing, and much more.

The medieval town of Óbidos is located approximately 16 kilometers from the mill. This is one of the most picturesque and best-preserved towns in Portugal. It offers numerous charming shops and restaurants.

  • Peniche (approximately 45 km)
  • Parque Natural das Serras de Aire e Candeeiros (Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park) (approximately 20 kmThere are also two supermarkets nearby. Lidl and Intermarché are a 2-minute drive away (2 km). There’s also a gas station at Intermarché, where you can fill up the cheapest.
